Education and Experience:
Program Coordinator II positions typically require a job related Bachelor’s degree; and/or a combination of experience and specialized training which includes a minimum of five (5) years of experience within emergency management fields or substantial experience as a First Responder.

Selection Process:
Resume and other documents must be attached together in the 'Resume Upload' section of the application. Multiple files are allowed, but all applicant attachments must be uploaded simultaneously, as there is no way to edit or append uploaded materials after submitting the application.
Application Review (Pass/ Fail) - An online application is required. Attaching a resume does not substitute for a completed application; incomplete applications will not pass the application review. Candidates deemed most qualified will be invited to participate in the remainder of the selection process.
Practical Exam (Pass/Fail) - This recruitment may require a practical exam which will be job related and may include, but not limited to, the qualifications outlined in the job announcement. Candidates deemed most qualified will be invited to participate in the remainder of the selection process.
First review of candidates will be April 24th. This recruitment may close on or after the first review date with no additional notice.
Oral Interview - The interview will be job related and may include, not limited to, the qualifications outlined in the job announcement. Top candidate(s) will continue in the process.
Employment references will be conducted for the final candidates and may include verification of education.
It is general policy of the County that new employees should be hired at the lower steps of the applicable range and advance through the range at the normal progression.
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Program Coordination & Administration
• Coordinate, plan, and manage emergency preparedness and response activities for the County and Public Works.
• Develop and implement life‑safety program elements, including drills, procedures, reference materials, evacuation maps, and emergency plans.
• Serve as a liaison with CRESA and other emergency partners.
• Support the county during emergency events such as wildfires, severe winter storms, heat emergencies, and power disruptions.
• Contribute to countywide incident response efforts as part of the Workplace Violence Prevention and Review Team.
Program Development & Evaluation
• Define program goals and objectives; establish methods and processes to achieve them.
• Prepare reports on program performance, needs, and demographic or service‑related data.
• Monitor program outcomes and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Staff and Department Support
• Provide training, guidance, and technical expertise to staff across the County.
• Coordinate incident response efforts; provide support to Public Works field operations during emergency events.
• Participate in community outreach efforts when applicable.
Emergency Response Support
• Assist in coordinating deployment of Public Works personnel during emergency conditions.
• Monitor, track, and support multi‑departmental emergency resource needs.
• Assist with supervising multiple work units during large‑scale events as necessary.
