This role supports the culinary team by assisting with food preparation, maintaining inventory, and ensuring a safe and efficient kitchen environment.

The Houston Marriott Westchase Hotel is seeking a full-time Kitchen Steward/Dishwasher to join our Food and Beverage department!

Scheduling: This is a Full-Time position that requires open availability to work various days, including weekends and holidays, both AM and PM shifts. Work schedules will change weekly to support operational demands.

Horario: Este puesto es de tiempo completo, con 5 días a la semana, y requiere flexibilidad para trabajar en cualquier turno programado, entre semana, fines de semana y festivos. El horario se ajustará semanalmente para adaptarse a las necesidades del negocio e incluirá turnos matutinos y vespertinos, además de turnos ocasionales para eventos especiales. Los turnos matutinos comienzan a las 7:00 y los vespertinos a las 15:00.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean kitchen cooking and prep areas, and outside loading dock.
  • Carry out general cleaning as directed to include sweeping, mopping up, washing up, ensuring floors are kept dry and clean at all times.
  • Collects and removes trash, emptying of rubbish bins and boxes ensuring placement in the correct containers
  • Adhere to all sanitation regulations, company standards and guidelines regarding cleanliness and food preparation are met.
  • Assist the Cooks and Servers as and when necessary, occasionally plate food before service.
  • Clean, sanitizes, and put away dishes and related flatware/serviceware following established procedures.

This list is not all inclusive, additional job functions will be shared during interviews.

Supportive Functions: The hotel functions seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day. Due to the seasonal nature and business hours of a hotel, candidates must realize it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift to meet business demands. All associates are expected to perform any other duties as requested by management to support other departments and/or operational requirements.

What are we looking for?

  • Good communication skills and work ethic.
  • Ability to work well in a team and manage priorities in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Able to easily adapt to unexpected changes and follow instructions.
  • Able to work in varying temperatures and noise levels, including exposure to hot surfaces and steam.
  • Move food, equipment, carts, and tubs weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Capable of remaining in a standing position, either stationary or walking, for duration of shift.
  • Capable of frequent and repeated lifting, bending, stooping, and extending arms fully, throughout duration of shift.
  • Ability to observe and adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and company guidelines for food handling, cross-contamination protocols, and sanitation.

Professional Licenses/Certifications

  • Food Handler Certification

Experience

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not required
