The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $59,000.00 - $75,000.00/year.

We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location

The City and County of Denver utilizes a hybrid model workplace that balances the responsibilities of public service with the benefits of a flexible work environment. Employees work where needed, at a city site and/or in the community several days a week.  In this position you can expect to work on site, three days a week at: Wellington E. Webb Building – 201 W Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80202.

This position is primarily based in an office environment with frequent fieldwork in the community. Some evening and weekend hours may be required for youth events and community engagement.

Denver Workforce Development (DWD) provides full-service employment and training that meets the workforce and employment needs of businesses, job seekers and youth throughout the metro area. DWD staff connect employers with a trained and ready workforce, while assisting job seekers with gaining needed skills and securing sustainable employment.

We are hiring for a full-time Youth Program Coordinator. The position plays a key role in coordinating, managing, and implementing youth-focused employment and workforce development programs. This position is designed to ensure youth participants (ages 14-24) receive comprehensive guidance, skills training, and access to opportunities that help them succeed in education, employment, and personal development. The coordinator will collaborate closely with workforce centers, employers, community partners, and educational institutions to meet the evolving needs of young job seekers in Denver.

What you will do:

  • Program Coordination: Assist in the planning, execution, and oversight of youth employment programs, such as internships, apprenticeships, career exploration events, and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Employer Relations: Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, non-profits, and government entities to create job placements and mentorship opportunities for youth participants.
  • Youth Support & Career Guidance: Provide one-on-one career coaching, resume help, job readiness training, and guidance to youth participants, focusing on their career development and growth.
  • Community Outreach: Engage with community organizations, schools, and youth groups to recruit participants and increase awareness of available programs.
  • Workforce Development: Align youth programs with citywide workforce development strategies to ensure young people gain the skills and experience needed to enter the workforce or pursue higher education.
  • Data Management: Gather, track, and report on key performance metrics related to youth programs and participant outcomes.
  • Event Coordination: Assist in organizing youth career fairs, job-readiness workshops, and other community engagement activities to support program goals.

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Workforce Development, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in youth development, employment services, or workforce programs.
  • Strong understanding of workforce development strategies, job placement, and career coaching techniques.
  • Ability to engage and inspire youth from diverse backgrounds, including those facing multiple barriers to employment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with community organizations, schools, and local businesses.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with case management software and data reporting tools.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or other languages) are highly desirable.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Management, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of professional or technical level experience planning the administrative aspects of a program(s) or training program participants and/or volunteers. (Some positions may require experience in a specific program area.)
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
  • License/Certifications: None.
