Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of research experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Previous experience in experimental systems related to mutagenesis, homologous/non-homologous recombination, and deaminase activities.
Physical Requirements:
Needs to be reasonably active and able to be on their feet approximately 80% of the day.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in molecular biology or related field plus three (3) years of research and/or research lab experience, or Ph.D in biology plus one (1) year of molecular biology research lab experience required.
Basic molecular biology, aseptic tissue culture, and flow cytometry.
Additional Information:
Responsibilities:
Perform molecular biology, virology, and cell biology experiments, including: DNA/RNA isolation. PCR, real-time PCR, and reverse transcription real-time PCR. Protein purification, cloning, and western blotting. ELISA, aseptic tissue culture, and immunofluorescence staining. Viral infection and purification (following training).
Conduct animal experiments, including: Animal handling and physical examinations, injections, blood collection, tissue isolation, processing, and analysis.
Analyze and interpret experimental data.
Prepare and present results to the Principal Investigator (PI) and laboratory personnel.
Assist the PI with protocol development, submission, and approval processes (e.g., IACUC, IBC).
Contribute to laboratory management by: Maintaining inventories and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Order supplies and coordinate routine lab maintenance. Assist with staff training and mentorship.
Performs other duties as assigned.
