Location & Schedule

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to work on-site at Castro Human Services Center located at 1200 Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80204 3 days per week, and off-site 2 days per week. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

Eligibility Technician II should be proficient in FA/MA/CO Works eligibility benefits and other public assistance programming. Denver Human Services (DHS) is seeking an individual demonstrating solid performance within these laws, rules, regulations, computer systems and general practice

programs and have the desire to make a difference in our communities in the greatest need,

throughout our city.

Specifically, as an Eligibility Technician II you will:

  • Work with other DHS Divisions; exhibit a strong desire to work with families in crisis and prevent children needing to be placed outside of their home from entering foster care
  • Process FA/MA/CW cases with an emphasis on caretaker/relative/specified caretaker benefits for those caring for a non-bio child to stabilize a kinship placement and avoid foster care. This will also entail processing FA/MA/CW for families working with Child Welfare who need assistance.
  • Provide in person same day service to clients newly applying for benefits and reauthorizing their existing benefits as needed
  • Research and resolve coming-due and overdue cases appearing on the Exception Reports, working the Unresolved Flexible Appointment lists, and the RRR Received with Generated Status reports
  • Troubleshoot, screen, track and resolve help desk tickets.
  • Show tact, compassion and comfort in working with clients in crisis
  • Work with a high level of independence, productivity and quality when processing cases
  • Attend de-escalation and mental health first aid trainings, if and when offered.
  • Attend monthly individual supervision and weekly group supervision
  • Attend training with DHS FAAD and training refreshers.
  • Attend CO Works Work Force Training to assist our CW WF Case Managers when an eligibility function needs to be completed in CBMS.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of technical/specialized clerical experience, including one year of experience determining eligibility for public assistance programs.
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
  • License/Certifications: None
