The City and County of Denver has announced furlough days, or unpaid days off, for most employees to meet a budget shortfall in 2025. There are two fixed furlough days for all limited (temporary positions with an end date) and unlimited (permanent) employees on August 29th, the Friday before Labor Day, and November 28th, the day after Thanksgiving. If you receive an offer for this position, your annual pay will determine whether you are required to take additional furlough days. Details will be discussed during the offer process for selected candidate(s).
In this position, you can expect to work on-site at Denver International Airport 4 days per week on one of the following shifts.
Schedule A: Sunday – Wednesday
Schedule B: Wednesday – Saturday
Shift Times:
Day Shift: 05:00 – 15:30
Swing Shift: 14:30 – 01:00
Graveyard Shift: 19:30 – 06:00

Denver International Airport Passenger Loading Bridge maintenance team is looking for a talented Senior Electrician to perform electrical maintenance and repairs on over 170 Jet bridges and ground support equipment, as well as mentor and coach entry-level electricians on these maintenance and repair operations. Our team works on various issues, from day-to-day preventative maintenance to emergency response and repair in various environments.
In this position, you can expect to:
Independently performs maintenance, alteration, and repair of passenger boarding bridges, ground power units, and pre-conditioned air units in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade and the FAA.
Coordinates, trains, and independently installs new passenger boarding bridge and ground support equipment components
Responds to electrical service or trouble calls, troubleshoots various problems/issues, and provides problem resolution.
Prepares working sketches and works from blueprints, schematics, and written or verbal instructions. Estimates materials, labor, and equipment costs.
Maintains records and prepares daily activity reports.
Adheres to all airport, FAA, OSHA, and company safety and environmental standards.
Collaborates with other airport maintenance staff, airfield operations, and airline personnel to minimize downtime and operational disruptions
Participates in airport safety training, drills, and continuous improvement efforts
Participates in snow removal duties
Performs other related duties as assigned

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
Strong electrical background, with experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining jet bridges, ground power units (GPUs), pre-conditioned air (PCA) units, and related airport systems
Effective communication, both verbal and written, for reporting issues to leadership, coordinating with both airport operations and airline stakeholders, and providing direction to team members
High reliability and accountability, with a strong sense of ownership for assigned equipment and tasks
Professional and positive demeanor, especially when working around airline personnel, airport operations staff, and stakeholders
Strong focus on safety, compliance, and adherence to airport protocols and electrical codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA, OSHA)
Experience mentoring and developing junior electricians, fostering a collaborative and skilled work environment
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals related to jet bridge systems
At least 2 years of experience in construction, maintenance, or aviation-related electrical settings
Experience in aviation electrical systems, with a focus on passenger loading bridge operations.
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of experience as a licensed journey level Electrician.
Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
Requires a Journey Electrician's License issued by the State of Colorado or state issued equivalent at the time of application.
Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
