Summary of Job Duties:

The IT Asset Management (ITAM) Technician supports the ITAM Team by performing hands-on collection, processing, and documentation of surplus IT equipment across campus. This position requires a proactive approach to work tasks, strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and the physical capability to lift and carry up to 30-50 pounds.
Key Responsibilities:
• Pick up data storing IT equipment from multiple campus locations; safely lift, carry, and transport equipment (30 50-pound lifting requirement).
• Physically remove hard drives, batteries, and other components from surplus IT equipment following established procedures.
• Accurately transcribe asset tag numbers, serial numbers, and other identifying information into Excel spreadsheets.
• Research IT assets in Workday, with particular focus on verifying asset status, ownership, and disposition requirements.
• Convert and transcribe Excel based asset data into formal transfer requests for Property Accounting.
• Maintain and update tracking systems for all incoming IT assets to ensure accurate chain of custody and documentation.
• Follow ITAM Project Team guidelines for safety, data security, and equipment handling.
• Uphold regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance.

Working hours: 25 hours through semester, with full time as an option during summer.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.

  • Familiarity with Excel and basic data tracking tools.

  • Ability to follow technical procedures for equipment handling and component removal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in using PC and Mac computers.

  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Experience in computer support.
