Handles all requests for billing information from physicians, attorneys, patients, third party payors, other healthcare providers and public agencies. Reviews requests for accuracy and legality, ensuring the timely completion of all requests.Job Description:

Ability to run a copier, printer, scanner, and fax machine, Flexibility to work independently, self-motivated and met time sensitive deadlines, Knowledge of Medical Records processing, Medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, Research skills with various system applications, Strong comfort level with computer systems, Strong knowledge base of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Access, Written and verbal communication skillsEssential Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations. 2. Primarily responsible for timely and accurate processing of all patient billing/medical records information requests including fax, mail, other requests as assigned within a required timeframe. 3. Determines that authorizations/requests for patient information are complete and in compliance with Hospital Policy. 4. Research and follow-up on improper or incomplete required documents in a timely manner in conjunction with each type of request. 5. Enter information into tracking system accurately and completely. 6. When records are received, match request with record and place in designated area. 7. Ensures that all subpoenas for patient information are in compliance with California Law. 8. When records are received, match request with record. Check record for completeness and any circumstances where a specific authorization is required. 9. For records contained in Horizon Patient Folder, print out the pages necessary to complete the request. 10. Must be familiar with California Consent Manual and Confidentiality of patient information. 11. Must be familiar with HIPAA requirements for release of patient specific information. 12.Performs other duties as assigned.
