The Fire Technician 2 inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains fire systems, circuits, and equipment to ensure that facility operations run smoothly and uninterrupted.
Working Hours: 2nd shift (1pm – 9:30pm)
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Accompanies authorities during fire safety inspections and answers any questions. Verifies the condition of fire penetration at rated walls, and repairs ceilings, walls, doors, partitions, and other physical structures. Inspects fire pumps, extinguishers, fire alarms, and fire sprinklers for operation and inspection compliance. Installs and maintains fire related equipment. Keeps daily log up-to-date via work orders of completed and pending jobs. Maintains accurate records of all repaired and restored fire rated areas. Identifies jobs that are beyond mechanic capability and reports to appropriate management staff to obtain assistance. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Certification and Licensing:
Certification in relevant specialty or field or valid license from Miami Dade County or Associates in relevant field. Valid Florida Driver’s License.
Experience:
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
