JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES

Each day, when we show up to work at POET Bioproducts, it’s our job to market and transport, as efficiently as possible, about 20,000 tons of our high-quality feed products from our bio-processing facilities to our valued customers who happen to be located all over the globe. We use trucks, trains, barges, and ocean container vessels to make this happen. As a Logistics Intern, it will be your job to support internal and external customers with logistics processes, as well as assist the Logistics Team in managing our bioproducts. If you are a problem solver, detail-oriented, a good team player, and an effective communicator, and are looking for an opportunity with a strong, growing company in an exciting industry, we can provide you with all the necessary training and tools to be successful.

This is an on-site role located in Sioux Falls, SD. Responsibilities may include:

  • Communicating with both internal and external customers who receive shipments via truck, railcar or container. 
  • Exposure to shipment and documentation processes for shipments, including understanding freight invoices and working with accounts payable.
  • Accurately executing real-world shipping processes, including exposure to contract applications, shipment tracking, documentation, and day-to-day shipments across multiple loading locations.
  • Investigate any issues that arise during shipments and work to resolve them promptly. 
  • Opportunity to work on a hands-on project to build a more optimal business process and/or metrics.
  • Prepare and present a presentation encompassing the information learned over the course of the internship.
  • Since we’re all about teamwork and getting the job done, your skill may be put to a lot of other uses!

The POET Never Satisfied Internship openings are for Summer 2026. We post Internships in early September with the intention of having interns selected by November 1st.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Entering Junior or Senior year of college and pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in the areas of Ag Economics, Economics, Communications, or Logistics.
  • Customer service mindset with a desire to provide solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with a sense of urgency that drives results.
  • Knowledge of the basics of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in an office environment, working at a personal computer where you may sit or stand. Most of our Sioux Falls office workspace consists of an open-concept design intended to promote open communication and collaboration.
