The Strategic Marketing Representative is responsible for identifying, engaging, and developing partnerships with brands and organizations aiming to connect with rural and agricultural communities. Leveraging Learfield’s News and Ag portfolio, this role uses a consultative and insight-driven approach to deliver strategic marketing solutions tailored to the unique needs of rural audiences. The ideal candidate is both a relationship-builder and a strategic challenger — someone who can reframe customer thinking, deliver value, and influence decision-makers at the highest level.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Research, identify and pursue new business opportunities with brands and organizations aligned with the rural/agricultural interests through cold calling, networking, referrals, and other lead-generation strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, especially with Chief Marketing Officers and Vice Presidents of Marketing to understand needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Deliver compelling sales presentations, and negotiate contracts to close deals.
  • Influence key stakeholders via recommendations based on historical data, current market knowledge and labor trends to driving hiring decisions.
  • Apply the Challenger Sales model to lead with insight: teach prospects something new and valuable about their business and market that challenges the status quo
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitors, and market conditions to position our products/services effectively.
  • Consistently exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets through pipeline management and account growth strategies.
  • Track sales activities, maintain accurate records in CRM software, and provide regular sales forecasts and detailed sales activity reports to management.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including marketing and customer support, to ensure client satisfaction and seamless service delivery.
  • Ability to travel outside of domicile 20% of the time with some overnight travel.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in business, marketing communications or related fields required.
  • 5+ years of business-to-business sales experience with proven sales results involving high-value deals.
  • Knowledge and experience with Challenger Sales methodology, with the ability to teach, tailor, and take control in the sales process.
  • Strong consultative and solution-based selling skills.
  • Adept at identifying and engaging key decision-makers quickly and effectively.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong planning, time management, and organizational abilities.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and capable of working independently in fast-paced, results-oriented work environment.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), and digital sales tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in agricultural media, niche marketing, or national brand sales.

Pay Transparency Information:

The approximate national base + draw pay range for this position is $80,000 to $150,000. Individuals may also be eligible for sales commission and bonus based on individual and company performance. Please note that this is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Placement on the range may vary based on factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and geographic location. The pay rate will comply with all minimum federal, state, and local wage/salary requirements.
