This job primarily performs non-destructive testing (NDT) radiographic inspections (RT) on composite rocket motors. Inspects composite materials, parts and assemblies for defects using automated and manual methods with radiographic techniques. Requires certifications in RT Non-Destructive testing in accordance with regulations.
In house part and material inspections are periodically performed using, ultrasonic (UT), liquid penetrant (PT), magnetic particle (MT), and eddy current (ET) inspection methods. These inspections can be in different locations including confined space locations.
Basic Qualifications:
NDT Tech 3
4-6 years of total experience in NDT.
1+ years of documented hours as an NDT Level 2 inspector in at least two NDT methods; in order of preference: Radiography (RT), Ultrasound (UT), Eddy Current (ET), Dye Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT). RECORDS REQUIRED
NDT Tech 4
6-10 years of total experience in NDT.
3+ years of documented hours as an NDT Level 2 inspector in at least two NDT methods; in order of preference: Radiography (RT), Ultrasound (UT), Eddy Current (ET), Dye Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT). RECORDS REQUIRED
Additional Basic Qualifications for both level 3 and level 4:
High School Diploma or equivalent GED (education will be verified).
NAS410 qualified Level 2 classroom training/experience, or equivalent, in radiographic methodology, either in progress or completed.
Must be willing to work a rotating schedule between day and night shift.
Willing to occasionally work overtime and flexible/changing schedules including weekends as required to meet schedule demands.
Willing to work with high energy x-ray machines (15MeV) and radiation environments.
Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitive work to include bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, and lifting up to 50lbs.
Able to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or confined spaces.
Able to understand and strictly follow procedures, planning, and policies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and technical report writing.
Must be capable of conducting NDT for the acceptance of parts with clear and concise documentation of the results.
Possess the ability to work in a team environment under the guidance of mentor/mentors to learn the necessary techniques and processes for achieving high quality NDT inspection results.
Ability to interpret rulers, digital gauges and calipers.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment as part of a multi-disciplined team.
Successfully pass a near vision eye examination, including a color vision test.
Preferred Qualifications:
Radiographic and Liquid Penetrant Level 2 certifications. Primary methods for this location.
Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, and Mag Particle Level 2 certifications.
Experience and familiarity with inspection/interpretation of engineering requirements.
Experience working with automated radiographic inspection systems.
Experience with handheld UT pulse echo units (USM GO, USN 60) and or phased array (MX2, Veo).
Experience with eddy current weld and aluminum tubing inspections (NORTEC 500).
