About the Position
The Director of Interfaith Life and Practice provides administrative leadership, strategic vision, programmatic creation, and oversight for interfaith engagement and spiritual wellbeing at the College. The Director ensures religious and spiritual communities are contributing to the College’s mission of inclusion and equity by affirming and supporting the presence and acceptance of all members of the College community. The Director also acts as a resource for spiritual and faith development, community connection and bridge-building, and engagement with diverse experiences and perspectives. They will forward the College’s commitment to fostering interfaith understanding, dialogue, peacemaking, and action for the common good.

Primary Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and implement interfaith and spiritually inclusive programs, activities, and community practices that foster communal health and affirm human dignity through presence and programming for the college community
• Provide counsel, support, and partnership to students, faculty, and staff regarding their religious and spiritual identities, experiences, and explorations as members of the Haverford community. Develop and support inclusive religious and spiritual initiatives, educational workshops, community dialogues, and capacity building as they relate to the overall wellbeing of the campus community
• Facilitate opportunities for interfaith and values-based dialogue that include humanist and questioning perspectives, cultivating spaces for meaning-making across belief or non-belief
• Partner with faculty and academic departments to integrate interfaith engagement and dialogue into co-curricular initiatives
• Administer the budget and oversee expenditures for programs and operations within the scope of Interfaith Life and Practice
• Manage and supervise chaplains, community-based campus liaisons, and advise leaders of student religious or spiritual groups
• Provide leadership and oversight for an Interfaith hub for reflection, community engagement, and interfaith practice
• Engage in assessment and strategic leadership to evaluate the impact of interfaith and spiritual life programming on campus culture, inclusion, and wellbeing
• Promote religious literacy through educational programs, awareness campaigns, social media, as well as web and print-based materials, while providing guidance on inclusive and culturally responsive practices that honor and celebrate diverse faith traditions. This includes developing and maintaining an institutional interfaith calendar that highlights key religious observances and events
• Mentor and advise religious and spiritual student organizations and affinity groups, helping them plan events, navigate campus resources, and connecting them to off-campus worship spaces and communities that align with their faith traditions or beliefs
• Collaborate with campus partners to support religious accommodations, dietary requirements, and other faith-related needs
• Serve as a confidential resource for Title IX matters by offering support to community members, guiding them through their available options, and connecting them to on- and off-campus resources
• Serve on Division and College committees and other work as assigned

Line of Report: The Director of Interfaith Life and Practice reports to the Vice President for Institutional Equity and Access, works closely with the Associate Director of Religious and Spiritual Life for Quaker Affairs, and may oversee campus religious advisors, as well as student leaders.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Religion, Theology, Ministry, Counseling, or related field
• 5 years of experience in higher education leadership
• Experience in facilitating interfaith programming with college students

• Demonstrated ability to cultivate and encourage behavior that is supportive of a community that is diverse, inclusive, and welcoming
• Demonstrated commitment to student development
• Experience delivering educational content to a range of campus constituencies
