Senior Data Insights Strategist

Samsung has developed a proprietary ad platform that leverages unique first party TV data to help brands connect to their audience as they explore content across desktop, mobile, tablets and our SMART TVs. The Samsung Ads Platform delivers high-quality audience targeting powered by three key components: first-party audience data at scale, world-class data science, and brand-safe cross-device ad inventory.

We are seeking  a seasoned  Senior Data Insights Strategist to lead the charge in transforming data into strategic advantage for Samsung and its clients.  This role sits at the intersection of analytics, media performance and client strategy- ideal for someone who thrives on uncovering insights, measuring impact and guiding decision-making backed by data.  The individual will have a deep understanding of the TV/CTV media ecosystem and how to consultatively advise clients on their media strategy and performance using advanced analytics. Their key contribution is to help our customers extract more value out of the Samsung relationship and Samsung Ads’ products.  They create  advanced analytics and data insights to help advise clients’ media activation strategies and outcome measurement across Samsung’s proprietary and programmatic platforms.

It’s key for this individual to have a pulse on how brands and the media agency community is thinking about and allocating client video spend to reserved and programmatic channels and what data-backed solutions they need to do so more seamlessly.  They must have an excellent understanding of the business objectives that brand leaders and their agencies are tasked with fulfilling throughout the complex, multi-screen journey.

This Senior Data Strategist must be well-versed in the wide range of strategies, tactics, methodologies and technologies that marketing analytics leaders have at their disposal to support their goals.  They must be able to think strategically and uncover data insight needs that will contribute to clients’ investment decisions and campaign performance  optimization.  Using their deep understanding of Samsung’s TV and mobile data, they will  create advanced analytics that inform audience and campaign placement strategies.  They will create and implement measurement frameworks to evaluate and optimize campaign performance working with first party data and third party measurement providers. 

This executive will be the consummate team-player and have the ability to work collaboratively across Engineering, Data Insights and client facing teams within a fluid and fast paced environment.

This Senior Data Insights Strategist position is based in New York with domestic US travel as needed and will report to our Head of Data Insights.  Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze large datasets from media campaigns, CRM platforms and third-party sources to uncover trends and opportunities and formulate data strategies that drive clients’ media activation and KPIs.
  • Is expert in TV data, both structured and unstructured data.  Is able to query Big Data and use modeling techniques to answer key questions relevant to campaign strategies and optimizing campaign performance.
  • Applies statistical techniques (regression, clustering, predictive modeling) to forecast outcomes and segment audiences.  Use tools like Python, R, or SQL to build models and automate analysis workflows.
  • Develops dashboards and reports that translate complex data into clear actionable insights for internal teams and clients.
  • Designs and implements measurement frameworks to evaluate campaign effectiveness across CTV, linear and other media including MTA models and statistical significance validation.
  • Is expert on MMPs (media/mobile measurement partners) and analyzes 3P partner attribution methodologies, applies adjustments to accurately measure client KPIs
  • Leads full-funnel performance measurement providing advisory on Marketing Mix Models (MMM), web/mobile/foot traffic attribution and sales lift.
  • Familiar with Data Clean Rooms to apply Samsung 1P data with Client 1P data for audience insights, audience strategy, campaign activation and measurement.
  • Engages with AI engineers to apply AI solutions to large data sets and tailors to individual client media and campaign strategies. 

Background/Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5+ years of industry experience with a Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science or related fields such as Statistics, Data Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
  • 5+ years in digital and TV advertising including analytics, data strategy, full-funnel measurement.  Excellent understanding of the current advertising, media ecosystem, and supporting platforms  (data cloud - AWS, Snowflake, DSPs), tools (data visualization - DOMO, Tableau, Power BI), metrics (CTR, ROAS, CTA, Reach/Frequency) and campaign attribution models..
  • Successful internal and external relationship management.
  • Experience working in both entrepreneurial and established corporate cultures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and good follow-through.
  • Talented at explaining complex topics in simple terms to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A strategic mindset that can create compelling stories with data.

Skills and Qualifications

The salary range for this role is expected to be between $170,000 and $210,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
