As a Service Technician, you provide repair and installation on a variety of dental equipment and products, including networking, computers, and software in a Windows environment. The Service Technician learns and follows the manufacturer's guidelines for repairing devices. Training is provided through a mentorship program with other branch technicians and manufacturers, online training courses, and field experience.

This position is based in the St-John’s area, but regular travel throughout Newfoundland and Labrador is expected.

Essential Functions

  • Determines the parts, supplies, or tools required to complete service requests.

  • Uses, maintains, and secures test devices and tools used to adjust, calibrate, and repair equipment.

  • Repairs equipment to manufacturer specs.

  • Ensures the service commitments are met within standard response time.

  • Work with Sales Representatives to present Maintenance Agreements to customers.

  • Follow repair and manufacturer schedules for customers on Service Agreements.

  • Complete all required paperwork, i.e., work orders, repair tags, and equipment loaner tags.

  • Learns and follows specific manufacturer guidelines for repairs as well as all company policies related to asepsis.

  • Provide technical support and train customers on the use and basic maintenance of all equipment sold.

  • Ensure proper vehicle maintenance guidelines and safe driving habits are followed.

  • Manage inventory and restocks when necessary.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Technical training in the biomedical or electronics field is preferred.

  • Valid driver's license and in order required.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Motivated team player.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in the repair field in a dental/medical environment.

  • General mechanical aptitude with prior experience in the areas of carpentry /plumbing /heating/electricity/electronics required.

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal in English.

  • General computer proficiency, including knowledge of Windows-based programs and experience with peripherals such as printers, backups, scanners, and modems, is preferred.

  • Proficiency in spoken French is an asset.
