SUMMARY

This position is responsible for overseeing the facility's compliance with company, regulatory, and client requirements for safety, quality, and product delivery. This includes serving as a primary resource for safety and quality processes and programs and acting as the day-to-day contact for all training and investigations related to safety, quality, and security issues. They will work closely with the Regional Manager to ensure that all processes and programs in the warehouse align with company standards and third-party certification requirements. They will be responsible for driving consistent safety and quality performance within their assigned operational areas and implementing continuous improvement initiatives across the primary functional areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for overseeing company safety strategy, initiatives, and programs within the assigned operations.
  • Manages and improves quality processes, ensuring compliance with customer, company, local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Implements company safety strategy, initiatives, and programs within the local operating environments.
  • Ensures compliance of environmental, health, and safety programs with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Manages safety/quality/regulatory related compliance to the Independent Contractor (IC) agreements.
  • Leads various audits both internal and external/3rd party as they relate to safety protocols and process improvements.
  • Manages scorecards and other safety and quality metrics for their operations and communicates trends with Operations teams.
  • Oversees performance of safety walks that identify warehouse hazards that need correcting.
  • Supervise new staff safety onboarding process and procedures.
  • Conducts staff and process observations in accordance with the company improvement program.
  • Resolves customer complaints and requests for Corrective Action/Preventive Action Reports.
  • Conduct internal auditing, analyze the data to identify trends and develop reports for management review. Perform CAPAs for identified non-conformances.
  • Routinely audits processes and verifies end-of-shift records for programs as required.
  • Manage occupational exposure processes to include risk and exposure assessments, develop and implement exposure monitoring plan, and manage exposure controls; observe employees at work to determine compliance with safety precautions and safety equipment used. 
  • Reviews weekly facility records and corrects conditions that pose a risk to stored product.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Public Administration, Engineering, Logistics, or related field is strongly preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience working for in warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or logistics setting is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted. Experience in food safety knowledge as it relates warehouse requirements strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (requires frequent manipulation of spreadsheets in Excel). Ability to multi-task and organize workflow to manage daily responsibilities, meet deadlines and prioritize work with minimal supervision. Knowledge of legal requirements and standards around safety practices. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and exercise good judgment in dealing with sensitive information. Thorough knowledge of intermediate math concepts and the ability to apply them to the job. Excellent attention to detail and follow through. Exemplary organization and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under minimal supervision and with a strong sense of self-motivation. Strong analytical ability and high attention to detail. Comfortable presenting to and communicating with a range of employees, managers, customers, regulatory inspectors, and the public.

Working Conditions:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and performed in a climate-controlled environment with adequate ventilation. This position will be exposed to Warehouse working conditions, Exposure to vibration, improperly illuminated or awkward and confining work spaces.  Exposure to some degree of varying seasonal temperatures. Working above ground level where the possibility of falling exists.  Loud noises typical.
