Licensing and Business Development, Student

The Licensing and Business Development, Student supports the Skysong Innovations (SI) team with licensing, commercialization, and industry engagement activities. Responsibilities include assisting with licensing tasks, database management, technology marketing, and startup support. The role provides hands-on experience in technology transfer, business development, and intellectual property.

This role is an excellent opportunity for students interested in innovation, entrepreneurship, and bringing university technologies to market.

What you'll do:

• Licensing

  • Assisting Licensing and Business Development team with day-to-day tasks and ongoing projects

  • Scheduling meetings (and possibly attending) for Licensing and Business Development team

  • Assisting with management of licensing-related activities and management of activities in database

  • Post-licensing follow-up with new ASU startups companies

  • Other duties as assigned

• Business Development

  • Licensing and Business Development with collecting data and managing marketing-related database 

  • Developing non-confidential summaries of ASU technologies available for licensing

  • Conducting marketing campaigns by sharing ASU technology opportunities to companies across industries

  • Entering marketing data and related correspondence into database (with attention to detail) 

• Other Duties

  • Assist LBD & Venture team with Startup databases of presentation documents, resources, and processes

  • Create marketing & startup company support documentation using different databases

  • Helping with coordination of Startup pitch and tech showcase events

  • Assist SI legal and/or licensing teams with assigned projects in the fields of business law and licensing

• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Skysong Innovations and University business

• Ability to demonstrate a high level of customer/client service

• Forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions and improve processes

Relevant qualifications:

• A current undergraduate or graduate student at Arizona State University pursuing a degree in a related field with a willingness to learn and ability to work well with others. Student must be willing to sign and abide by a confidentiality agreement.
