Essential Functions

  • Adheres to all Children’s Wisconsin (CW), Children’s Medical Group procedures and standards. Ensures confidentiality to our customers by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment; maintains HIPAA compliance. Provides exceptional care to patients and families to fulfill our patient experience promise.
  • Greets patient and family in a welcoming manner, directs patients and families to exam rooms. Maintains clinic flow, monitoring patient location and wait time.
  • Assists with the collection and documentation of patient information such as: vitals, measurements, health screenings, allergies, and home medications. Reports any observations or concerns to the nurse or provider.
  • Assists the provider in the exam process, administers medications and immunizations, assists with procedures including capillary blood draws, urine specimen collection, respiratory treatments, etc.
  • Maintains a clean, organized environment and prepares exam rooms to meet safety and clinical requirements.

Education:

  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required
  • Graduate of medical assistant program, preferred. In lieu of this education, 6 months of experience in a patient care role would be considered.
    • Certification or Registration (Clinical Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant) preferred.
  • Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.

Experience:

  • Experience in a primary care, urgent care, or specialty care setting preferred
  • Experience in administering immunizations and other injections preferred.
  • Experience with pediatric patients preferred

Patient Care Responsibility

  • Provides care appropriate to patient population and as described in applicable policies and procedures.

Schedule:

  • Varied hours between 7:45am-5:00pm or until the last patient is complete, Monday-Friday.  No weekends or holidays.
