JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as a Sports Medicine Liaison for the Network’s Athletic Trainers who are providing services at contracted School Districts, Sport Organizations and Professional or Elite Clubs/Teams.
Serves a primary role in contacting parents, scheduling timely appointments, obtaining authorizations/pre-certifications and processing insurance claim forms.
Serves a primary role in communicating with Athletic Trainers and School Officials regarding the status of insurance approvals, pre-certifications and physician appointments.
Assist the Senior Liaison in the education and training of athletic trainers on the processes and protocols for managing sports medicine referrals.
Assists the Senior Liaison in managing a system for logging and reporting on sports medicine referrals as part of the Senior Director’s financial analysis report.
Assists the Senior Liaison and Senior Director by representing the Network at selected PIAA, School Athletic Department and Coaches Meetings, and, Sports Medicine Marketing events.
Provides support to the Senior Liaison, Orthopaedics Service Line Administrator and Senior Director of Sports Medicine Relationships in establishing and managing a system for seamlessly processing referrals for physician and imaging appointments, as well as timely insurance approvals.
Advises and recommends improvements in Sports Medicine processes and practices to the Orthopaedics Service Line Administrator and Senior Director of Sports Medicine
Assists the Senior Director, Senior Liaison and Network in establishing Sports Medicine related contracts & processes for maximizing reimbursements & increasing productivity.
Assists the Senior Liaison and Senior Director by maintaining relationships with contracted programs, ensuring that programs are satisfied with the support provided by SLUHN. Monitors and continuously enhances customer service.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Requires sitting for up to 7 hours per day, 2 hours at a time. Frequently uses fingers for typing, data entry, etc. Frequent use of hands. Requires standing for up to 4-5 hours at both inside and outside athletic facilities. Extensively uses mouse as a computer entry device. Uses upper extremities to rarely lift up to 10 pounds. Occasionally stoops, bends or reaches shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general, peripheral and near vision, visual monotony. Spends considerable time viewing computer screen.
EDUCATION
High school diploma required. Background and experience with managing referrals and scheduling appointments for athletes participating in contracted secondary schools, colleges/universities and related youth/elite/professional programs preferred. Experience and knowledge of insurance contracts and processes for approval and pre-certification preferred.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the health care industry or comparable work experience required. Knowledge of sports or educational contracts, processing referrals, insurance approvals and scheduling timely appointments preferred. Working knowledge of the greater Lehigh Valley, its academic institutions, athletic programs and communities preferred.
