Job Description:
Summary:
The Associate of Baseball Operations will support our Major League and Baseball Operations department with the day-to-day operational responsibilities of the department. This is a great early role for someone interested in Front Office / Baseball Operations with exposure to MLB Rules & Regulations, CBA, player contracts, player allowances, and roster management. The ideal candidate will be passionate about baseball, extremely organized, thrive in managing operational processes, have comfort navigating financial processes, be comfortable communicating with various stakeholders daily, and be comfortable with managing the details required for a baseball season.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage the sending of and collection & tracking of required player documentation for required transactions, managing status trackers and ensuring ongoing completion of required documents with Payroll & HR
Support Baseball Operations team in maintaining of critical operational documents, such as 40-man contact information, IL placement tracker, transactions log
Support in the creation and distribution of coach and player-facing resources to provide valuable information on logistics and expectations
Support in the submission and reconciliation of Major League Travel invoices and expenses to ensure all charges are reconciled correctly and timely, working with external vendor to track down outstanding issues
Provide support for ongoing travel needs with our ML Travel Manager throughout the season in accordance with Travel processes
Provide support for managing ongoing ML transaction checklists throughout the season
Partner with the Baseball Operations management with tracking invoices, payments, and budget changes throughout the season across major Cost Centers
Draft communication and updates for Major League coaches, players, and Baseball Operations department on key information throughout Spring Training and Regular Season
Provide assistance for the player and staff allowances rules & allocation process for Spring Training and Regular Season
Support the expense and invoice submission and review for relevant departments (Front Office, ML Travel, ML Players and Staff, and ML Clubhouses) to ensure accuracy and alignment with the budget
Develop proficiency with the Major League Rules and Regulations and Major League CBA
Gain exposure to key milestones of baseball calendar and roster management throughout the season
Qualifications:
1-2 years of experience in operational role; experience with Finance and Accounting preferred
Demonstrated interest or experience in baseball
Exceptional project management skills with ability to develop and maintain trackers, communicate updates with stakeholders, and update team proactively and consistently
Extremely detail-oriented and willing to get into the weeds to ensure compliance with MLB policies
Self-starter who can take initiative and manage tasks and projects with minimal oversight
Strong communicator and collaborator who is comfortable engaging with multiple different people across the organization
Solid foundational understanding of baseball and the MLB with a strong desire to learn
