Hall's Body Shop in Elizabeth City is busier than ever, and we are looking for a Painter's Assistant/Helper to join our team. This is a Monday-through-Friday position, 8AM to 5PM. Pay is based on experience, range $10-$15/hour. One year of experience with sanding and masking required.

Summary:
The Painter’s Assistant/Helper will assist in refinishing damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership quality specifications and time standards.

Essential Duties for Body Shop Painter Assistant:

• Operates and uses all body shop equipment properly and safely
• Assists in removal of rust from metal, and grease and dirt from work surface
• Assists in masking and protecting parts that are not to be painted or coated
• Assists in filling cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface
• May assist in mixing paint according to specifications
• May assist in painting surface using sprayer or brush as appropriate
• Inspects painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags, and unpainted areas
• Maintains tools and keeps equipment clean and in a proper state of repair
• Keeps work area clean
• Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacture
• Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials
• Reports any deviations to management
• Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicle
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.

Qualifications for Body Shop Painter's Helper:
- Interest in building a career in the body shop / collision industry

- Experience in body shop sanding and masking REQUIRED
- Valid driver’s license with 2 or fewer moving violations in last 3 years and ALSO no major violations in last 3 years (DUI, reckless driving, etc.)
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Basic MS Office knowledge; computer software, internet proficiency, and general mathematic skills
