Position Scope

Our objective is to harness nanotechnology to design and engineer immunotherapies and immunodiagnostics that modulate and/or visualize the immune system for the treatment and imaging of inflammatory diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other ailments. We integrate biomaterials design, immunology, and translational studies to develop novel therapeutic platforms.

Position Summary

The Researcher 2 will work closely with Dr. Smith to establish and expand the experimental efforts of the lab, performing high-dimensional spectral flow cytometry studies, designing and executing complex wet-lab experiments independently, and contributing to project development. The role involves planning and executing experiments across multiple immunoengineering projects, analyzing and interpreting research data, and assisting in the development of new experimental methodologies. The Researcher 2 will perform critical analysis of the scientific literature, assist with the preparation of manuscripts and presentations for national and international conferences, and contribute to grant proposals and other extramural funding applications. In addition to scientific responsibilities, the Researcher 2 will support lab management activities. This includes training and mentoring junior lab members, coordinating ordering of reagents and supplies, maintaining lab instrumentation, ensuring compliance with safety and research regulations, and assisting with the development and implementation of laboratory SOPs. The individual will operate independently to troubleshoot complex immunological assays, provide guidance on experimental design, and monitor project progress. The Researcher 2 will also help oversee the day-to-day activities of the lab, including work assignment coordination, budget oversight, and reporting of critical lab issues to Dr. Smith. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with operational leadership, offering the opportunity to advance both scientific and managerial skills while contributing to high-impact translational research in nanomedicine and immuno-engineering.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in a biology, biological sciences or related field or equivalent experience required, PhD Degree preferred; 3 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree, or 1 year of relevant experience required with Master's Degree. Ability to translate, adapt, and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.
