The Department of Educational Studies at The Ohio State University is seeking a Research Technician 3 for a temporary, one-year appointment during the 2026 – 2027 academic year.  The individual in this role will work closely with Dr. Muhammad Khalifa to support research and scholarly initiatives focused on culturally responsive instructional leadership and education in the Global South.  The Research Technician 3 will carry out research activities, contribute to scholarly writing, assist in securing external funding, and engage with practitioner-focused dissemination efforts.  Other duties as assigned.


Experience Required:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.
Demonstrated experience with educational research methods (qualitative and/or quantitative) required. Strong academic writing skills with evidence of prior scholarly or professional writing. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

Desired Experience:
Experience with culturally responsive pedagogy, school leadership, or Global South education issues desired.  Prior involvement in grant writing or research proposal development.  Experience collaborating on academic publications.

• Collect, organize, and analyze qualitative and/or quantitative data related to culturally responsive instructional leadership and Global South educational contexts. 
• Support development of research protocols, literature reviews, and analytic memos. 
• Maintain accurate records and ensure the integrity and confidentiality of research data.
• Contribute to writing, co-authoring, and preparing manuscripts for publication. 
• Co-write a minimum of three (3) scholarly articles during the appointment year on topics related to instructional leadership and the Global South.

• Draft and submit 3–4 external grant applications related to culturally responsive instructional leadership. 
• Support proposal development, including narrative drafting, budget justification preparation, and alignment with funding agency priorities.
15%
• Produce scholar-to-practice briefs designed for local practitioners. 
• Translate academic research findings into accessible formats for educator audiences.
10%
• Observe and participate in discussions for the course Culturally Responsive School Leadership (or similar courses offered within the Department of Educational Studies). 
• Contribute insights and reflections to enrich course discussions and the instructional environment


Target Salary Range - $19.28/hr - $25.19/hr
