Job Description

Location: Box Elder County - Surrounding Communities

Hospice is a compassionate approach to end-of-life care. The goal of hospice is to help people with serious illness live life fully, maintain their dignity and keep personal control over their lives by providing support services for hospice patients and their families. Intermountain Home Health and Hospice is seeking compassionate and dedicated volunteer members of Box Elder communities to provide support to hospice patients and their families.

Although this position falls under Logan Home Health and Hospice, volunteers will specifically serve the Box Elder County Area.

Services include companionship, respite/visit care, light housekeeping, listening, reading, and sharing hobbies. Other volunteer service opportunities include bereavement support for patient families. Hospice is available to anyone with an illness whose life expectancy is measured in months rather than years.

When more time cannot be given, we can help to make the most of the time one has left.

Volunteer Opportunities

Patient Care

Offer companionship and support to hospice patients and their families

Respite Care

Relieve caregivers who are physically and emotionally exhausted from providing care for a loved one

Bereavement Support

Provide support and help through death and grieving process

Comfort Care Volunteers

Provide comfort related therapy (music therapy, aromatherapy, massage therapy, reiki, etc.)

Office Support

Provide assistance with administrative services to the Hospice staff

 Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Able to work alone and independently (within scope of assigned duties)
  • Able to work well with diverse populations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good listening skills, Active listener
  • Sensitive to patient and family situations/dynamics
  • Maintain and respect professional relationships
  • Able to stay calm in stressful situations
  • Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable
  • Must be able to visit with patients at least 2 hours per week
