Job Description:

The Emergency Response Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) for Intermountain Flight & Ambulance Services. This role ensures the organization’s readiness to respond to aviation and ground medical transport emergencies, coordinate drills and exercises, and maintains compliance with FAA, CAMTS, OSHA, and organizational requirements. The Emergency Response Coordinator collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including clinical, aviation, communications, and regulatory agencies, to ensure a unified and effective emergency response.

Essential Functions

  • Develops, maintains, and updates the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) in accordance with 14 CFR Part 5.27, CAMTS, and other applicable standards.
  • Coordinates and conducts regular emergency response drills and exercises, including tabletop and full-scale simulations, ensuring participation from all relevant departments and external partners.
  • Serves as a liaison with local, state, and federal emergency management agencies, hospitals, and aviation authorities during emergency events and preparedness activities.
  • Ensures all staff receive initial and recurrent ERP training, including roles, responsibilities, and procedures for various emergency scenarios (e.g., aircraft accidents, medical emergencies, and natural disasters).
  • Maintains accurate records of ERP training, drills, and after-action reports; tracks implementation of recommendations and lessons learned.
  • Integrates ERP with the organization’s Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring risk assessments and continuous improvement processes are applied to emergency preparedness.
  • Supports investigations and debriefings following emergency events, providing insights into process improvement and regulatory compliance.
  • Stays current with industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging risks related to emergency response in air medical transport.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in emergency management, aviation, medical transport, or related fields.
  • Working knowledge of safety management systems, regulatory compliance, and emergency response protocols.
  • Experience with training delivery and exercise facilitation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, set realistic goals, and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in emergency management, safety, aviation, healthcare, or related field.
  • Certification in emergency management (e.g., CEM, FEMA ICS/NIMS).
  • Previous experience in air medical or aviation emergency response.
  • Knowledge of helicopter air ambulance operations (14 CFR Part 135 Subpart L).
  • Knowledge of CAMTS and other applicable medical transport standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs. 
  • Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. 
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$33.75 - $53.16
