CLA is currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Legal Clerk to join our team and support the firm’s legal, risk management, and compliance functions. In this role, you will contribute to key initiatives by conducting legal research, supporting internal reviews, and helping interpret regulatory requirements that impact our business operations. This is a strong opportunity for someone pursuing or recently completing a Juris Doctor (JD) who is looking to gain experience in a collaborative, professional services environment. It will be an in-office role.
How you’ll create opportunities in this Legal Clerk role:
Conduct legal research on statutes, regulations, case law, and administrative guidance relevant to firm operations
Draft and review internal memoranda, policy summaries, and compliance materials
Support interpretation of regulatory requirements across areas such as employment, privacy, compensation, and professional standards
Assist with internal legal reviews, audits, and risk assessments
Prepare summaries of legal developments and their implications for leadership and internal stakeholders
Review documents related to contracts, governance materials, and internal policies
Maintain legal documentation and knowledge resources
Collaborate with Legal, Risk, Compliance, and People Solutions teams to support firm initiatives
What you will need:
Enrollment in or completion of a Juris Doctor (JD) program from an accredited law school
Prior experience in an in-house legal, compliance, risk, or professional services environment is a plus
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Familiarity with legal research tools such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, or Bloomberg Law
Our approach to compensation emphasizes collaboration and career growth. We pay competitive wages and view compensation as an investment in our people. Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range.
The compensation range for this position in Minnesota is: $73,000-125,000.
