The Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Preventive Medicine (VMPM) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time, post-doctoral researcher position.
This position is specifically designed to provide research support for a recently awarded USDA Sustainable Agricultural Systems grant related to the sustainability of dairy goat production in the United States.
Responsibilities of this position include leading animal health research activities funded by grants related to respiratory disease, failure of passive transfer, mastitis, and antimicrobial stewardship in dairy goat production systems. The successful candidate will have a unique focus that complements the department’s current research interests, as stated above.
Doctoral degree in microbiology, animal science, veterinary medicine, or related field (either PhD or DVM, or equivalent) to be completed prior to start date.
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree or equivalent completed prior to start date
Eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the U.S.
Evidence of knowledge related to the U.S. dairy industry (cattle or goat), animal science, and/or animal husbandry
Experience in performing field research related to animal health
Our three-tiered mission of teaching, research, and service is addressed by a highly productive faculty, energetic graduate students, and the additional expertise of adjunct faculty. Our research is applied to the improvement of animal health, public health, and food safety. Our faculty have instructional responsibilities for bacteriology, immunology, virology, microbiology, epidemiology, and public health.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
