Summary
Iowa State University’s Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) is seeking to fill the position of Instructional Technologist II. As a part of the CELT Learning Technologies Support team, this position will provide effective technical support for teaching and learning challenges. Detailed-oriented, an individual in this position will:
Provide troubleshooting for centrally supported learning technologies via phone, face-to-face, and online consultations and the ticketing system.
Monitor and test the deployment of new technical features in the Canvas learning management system and other centrally supported technologies.
Create internal and external databases for supported technologies.
Analyze data to improve the usage and management of centrally supported technologies.
Communicate with the vendors on timely technical solutions for teaching and learning challenges.
Facilitate trainings for Canvas and centrally supported technologies.
Work closely with internal staff and units to coordinate instructor development programming around teaching and learning technologies.
Develop and review training, resources, and practices on teaching and learning with technologies
The ideal candidate needs to have the ability to work under deadlines and provide meaningful insights and make complex teaching and learning decisions. This position also requires excellent listening skills, oral and written communication skills, and organization and time management skills.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
Level Guidelines
• Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
• Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues
• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems
• Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests
• May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff
• May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
• Provides guidance to students
