Position Highlights:

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university.

  • M.A. or Doctorate (accreditation AOTA) preferred.

  • Licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of applicable state with current licensure.

  • CPR Certification every two years.

  • Valid applicable state driver's license.

What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for the performance of specialized tests, such as manual muscle testing, goniometry and teaching occupational therapy procedures to the patient, family and other health personnel.

  • Performs both individual and comprehensive evaluations with multidisciplinary team members. Provides written summary of diagnostic findings to be incorporated into team plan.

  • Plans intervention strategies and communicates effectively with families regarding the child's strengths and weaknesses; work may be performed in homes, agencies, preschools or clinics.

  • Provides occupational therapy treatment services including neuro-developmental and sensory motor therapy, developmental stimulation, home programming, equipment demonstration, or other treatment modality to enhance sensory motor functioning and general developmental status.

  • Provides documentation of goals and objectives for therapy as well as the course and progress of interventions with the patient. Participates in IFSP (Individualized Family Service Plan) as needed.

  • Participates in chart review of clinical recordsfor quality assurance.Attend relevant workshops and update instruments/tools to ensure most beneficial practices for population served.

  • Attends scheduled staff, CDSA, or other committee meetings as needed.

  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

  • Contact with patients, family members, visitors, coworkers and medical staff under a wide variety of circumstances

  • Ability to work with infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and older adult patients

  • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills

  • Functions effectively under stressful and difficult situations

  • Ability to work effectively with the team

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to hazardous substances, infectious diseases, and body fluids

  • Subject to many interruptions.

  • Potential exposure to infectious/contagious diseases, hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids, wastes, toxic chemicals and radiation

  • Handles emergency or crisis situation

  • Subject to many interruptions, highly stressful and crowded/noisy conditions

  • Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquires

  • Handles absentee replacement on short notice
