The Department of Agronomy in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is seeking an Administrative Assistant II to provide high-level administrative and operational support to the Department Chair and department personnel. This position plays a key role in coordinating meetings and events, supporting faculty processes, and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations within a dynamic academic environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities
Provide administrative support to the Department Chair, including preparing correspondence, reports, presentations, and handling confidential matters
Support faculty advancement, review, and appointment processes, including document coordination, scheduling, and deadline tracking
Manage complex calendars and scheduling for the Department Chair, faculty, and shared spaces, ensuring alignment with competing priorities
Coordinate departmental meetings, events, and faculty candidate visits, including scheduling, logistics, agendas, and minutes
Research, compile, and analyze information for reports, planning, and special projects
Provide administrative support to faculty, staff, postdocs, and students, ensuring timely and accurate service
Assist with onboarding, student employment processes, and general HR-related administrative support
Support daily office operations, including supplies, shared spaces, mail, and department records
Ensure accuracy and professionalism in departmental communications and documents
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
Level Guidelines
• Career-level position demonstrating proficiency and knowledge of related competencies
• Works under direct to general supervision and may receive guidance on more complex assignments
• Follows established procedures for work assignments, and completes assignments which are semi-routine and may be atypical in nature
• Applies thorough knowledge to respond to inquiries and requests
• Able to resolve most problems and issues and respond to requests without escalation
• Provides guidance to students
• May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team
