Mountain America Foundation Data & Operations Intern
Location: Sandy, UT (Hybrid option available)
Time commitment: 12 hours per week, $18/hour
Duration: May 11 – August 7 (13 weeks)
The Mountain America Foundation Data & Operations Intern will support the Foundation and Government Affairs team through a balanced combination of data analysis and day-to-day Foundation operations. This role is intentionally designed as a 50/50 position, with approximately half of the intern’s time focused on data management and reporting, and half focused on program operations, logistics, events, and administrative support.
This position is ideal for a candidate who already brings foundational data skills and is eager to apply them in a hands-on, mission-driven environment while also supporting the operational execution of Foundation programs. This internship provides meaningful, resume-building experience at the intersection of data-driven decision-making and nonprofit operations. The intern will gain exposure to foundation grantmaking, scholarship administration, and community impact measurement while working closely with experienced Foundation and Government Affairs professionals.

Key Responsibilities
Data Management, Analysis & Reporting (Approx. 50%)
Manage, clean, and maintain data related to grants, scholarships, donations, volunteerism, and community impact
Build, update, and maintain Power BI dashboards to track funding, participation, and outcomes
Support reporting through Dynamics 365 dashboards and connected data sources
Create and maintain Excel-based tools and reports
Analyze trends and outcomes to support impact measurement and decision-making
Prepare data summaries and visual insights for leadership, board materials, and internal stakeholders
Foundation Operations, Program Logistics & Administrative Support (Approx. 50%)
Support day-to-day Foundation operations, including administrative tasks, documentation, and internal coordination
Assist with Elevate Scholarship program management, including applicant tracking, award documentation, and timelines
Support program logistics and communications tracking with internal teams, schools, and community partners
Assist with Foundation events and community activities, including preparation, logistics, tracking, and post-event reporting
Help manage schedules, deadlines, and operational workflows related to grants, scholarships, and donations
Provide flexible support on special projects and emerging needs to ensure smooth execution of Foundation initiatives
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university
Preferred fields: Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Business, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related disciplines
Foundational data background, demonstrated through coursework, academic projects, internships, or work experience
Hands-on experience with Power BI and strong Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data organization)
Familiarity with Dynamics 365 dashboards strongly preferred
Highly organized, adaptable, and detail-oriented; comfortable balancing analytical and operational work
Ability to communicate data insights clearly to non-technical audiences
Interest in corporate philanthropy and community impact
Managerial Responsibility
Has no supervisory/managerial responsibilities
Language Skills
Must have the ability to read, understand and carry out instructions in written and oral form.
