The Landscape Construction Crew Leader is responsible for leading a team of 2-10 crew members in the installation of high-end outdoor spaces, including hardscapes, planting, water features, outdoor structures, and grading/drainage systems. This individual will work closely with Construction Project Managers to bring complex landscape designs to reality and complete jobs successfully.
Responsibilities and Duties
Team Leadership & On-Site Execution
Direct and oversee all aspects of landscape construction, ensuring projects meet design intent, client expectations, and the highest craftsmanship standards.
Lead and motivate a team of 2-10 construction associates, fostering a culture of excellence, efficiency, and teamwork.
Ensure daily production goals are met while maintaining the firm’s elite quality standards.
Train team members in best practices for landscape construction, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
Construction & Installation Oversight
Execute the installation of luxury hardscapes (pavers, natural stone, retaining walls, etc.), planting, irrigation, and custom outdoor features.
Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and site plans to guide the installation process.
Ensure proper grading, drainage, and site preparation before installation.
Operate and oversee the use of heavy equipment, tools, and machinery as needed for the project.
Quality Control & Problem-Solving
Perform quality checks at all stages of construction to ensure flawless execution.
Identify and resolve construction challenges on-site, making necessary adjustments to maintain design integrity.
Ensure all work meets or exceeds industry standards, company specifications, and client expectations.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce strict adherence to OSHA and company safety protocols on all job sites.
Conduct daily safety checks and ensure the proper use of PPE and equipment.
Train crew members on safe operating procedures and risk management strategies.
Communication & Coordination
Work closely with Construction Project Managers, Designers, and other field personnel to ensure smooth project execution.
Serve as the primary point of contact for on-site crew members, ensuring clear communication of project goals.
Maintain accurate daily reports, tracking project progress, material usage, and crew performance.
Job Requirements
5+ years of hands-on experience in landscape construction, including leadership experience.
Expertise in hardscape installation, grading, drainage, planting, irrigation, and outdoor structures.
Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, plans, and specifications.
Proficiency with construction tools, heavy equipment, and job site logistics.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to motivate and develop team members.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to on-site challenges.
Commitment to precision, craftsmanship, and maintaining an elite standard of work.
Valid driver’s license with a clean record; CDL license is a plus.
