We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a genuine interest in energy, technology, and a passion to deliver products for a growing company. The Senior Contract Advisor you will help build and execute our entire process surrounding the drafting, negotiation and management of third-party contracts as well as commercial contracts with our customers. This includes playing a key role with respect to designing a contract lifecycle management system that will enable Shell Energy to scale with increasing business demands.
You will also provide comprehensive contractual support to a growing business with respect to a wide category of third-party contracts. You will be the “go-to” in a fast-paced environment for all questions related to contracting that supports our commercial teams.
Reporting into the Contracts Team Lead Energy Houston, the role requires self-motivated, dedicated and responsible individual with the ability to perform well under pressure.
Accountabilities:
Lead the design, implementation, and administration of Shell Energy’s contracts to support commercial operations and certain customer facing documents
Oversee and ensure compliance with contract approval and review workflow via our MOA
Draft and review third party agreements such as third-party broker agreements, REC agreements with counterparties and customers, NDAs, and other agreements as needed
Generate tailored agreements based on templates, such as, amendments, terminations and NDAs
Assist in compliance and due diligence efforts including, responses, and document production
Track expiration dates associated with contracts and administer termination and renewal processes
Manage updates to third party template agreements
Maintain REC database and negotiate master REC agreements with third parties and customers
Maintain an accurate audit file for each contract which will include original contract, all correspondences, changes/deviations, amendments, clarifications, etc
Support maintenance and retrieval of contract documents/files and validated data, preparation of reports and participation in status reviews
Assist in RFP responses to commercial sales organization and necessary documentation
Assist in audit processes of our business from third parties
Assist with documentation support for regulatory filings as may be required
Provide support for corporate records
Exercises discretion and judgment, and priorities requests from multiple departments. Regularly adapts to new procedures, processes, and techniques. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments
Contacts are both internal and external, may be required to represent management and coordinate complex activities/projects
Regularly works with sensitive and confidential information
May provide skills training to others

What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
College degree required
15+ years’ experience in contracts and retail energy related agreements
10+ year’s retail electricity/power markets experience
Good communication skills, written and oral, for example ensuring sales agents are kept informed of any delays in turning around pricing requests, or outlining the rationale behind a decision not to approve credit for a customer
Analytical mindset, demonstrate ability to problem solve and create practical solutions to overcome problems and mitigate risks
Comfortable working in a target-driven and fast-changing environment, and able to respond to changing business needs
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; must be able to provide timely and accurate data analysis
Strong business writing skills and experience developing communication in various formats
Strong interpersonal skills
Learner mindset and eye for continuous improvement needs.
Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail
Ability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate a vested interest in team goals and objectives

What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $124,000 - $186,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
