Job Description:

What’s the role 

 

The primary responsibilities involve supporting Shell Energy’s gas, power, and environmental product origination and trading activities by ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations and maintaining accurate reporting to uphold Shell Energy’s license to operate in the eastern and southern regions. This position requires a self-driven, committed, and accountable professional capable of performing effectively in high-pressure situations. 

 

Accountabilities: 

 

  • Oversee compliance reporting for commercial products and markets by compiling and analyzing data from diverse sources, ensuring information accuracy, tracking product positions, and maintaining comprehensive compliance reporting records 

  • Collaborate with the multiple groups including contracts, trading desks, power settlements, inside sales, environmental solutions, sales & origination, market & credit risk, and others to ensure compliance with process and reports comply with regulatory requirements and reporting standards 

  • Support external audits, certifications, and verifications for renewable natural gas, resource adequacy, and renewable energy compliance.  

  • Manage and provide feedback and support to contract resources to ensure compliance with reporting regulations    

  • Develop and maintain fundamental understanding of wholesale and retail products and obligations 

  • Support the efforts of colleagues within the Regulatory Group and assist other Shell entities on relevant issues 

  • Support the development of new commercial products, strategies, or efforts with interpretation and implementation of compliance and regulatory reporting 

  • Manage updates and support training on behalf of the Regulatory Affairs team to SENA staff 

 

What you bring  

 

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer 

  • Bachelor’s degree required (business or equivalent preferred) 

  • Minimum of 3 years industry experience (power preferred) 

  • Ability to compile, analyze and verify data from multiple sources; Must be detail oriented 

  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail. 

  • Ability to meet deadlines, learn quickly and demonstrate effective problem solving and follow-up skills 

  • Strong business writing skills and experience developing communication in various formats 

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships across various stakeholders 

  • Strong IT (Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel) skills. Experience with Energy Trading/Risk Management systems  

  • Must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment, handling multiple priorities and complex tasks—usually by following established procedures 

  • Self-motivated with the desire to consistently improve performance and gain further knowledge 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The role requires effective collaboration with colleagues, cross-training, supporting various team functions, and demonstrating leadership abilities 

  • Technical and/or commercial understanding of retail and wholesale gas, power and carbon products. Ability to understand impacts of and make recommendations on rule changes and their impact on business and compliance 

  • Appreciation of “license to operate” considerations and compliance requirements 

 

 

What we offer 

 

The base salary range for this position is $103,000 - $155,000 per year Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity. 

 

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents. 

 

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance.
