Job Description:
What’s the role
The Retail Structuring Lead drives the electricity supply deal/solution design for SES’s most strategic client opportunities, delivering commercially viable, compelling, profitable solutions for B2B customers. This role partners closely with Sales, Portfolio, Legal, SENA and Finance to structure offers that meet customer needs while protecting Shell’s risk-return profile.
Accountabilities:
Manage a small Structuring team as a working team lead. Initial team of 3 including lead.
Lead deal valuation and structuring for Non-Standard/Bespoke retail opportunities, including analysis of volume, shape, imbalance, and certificate risks.
Build customer specific commercial structures (e.g., block and index blends, multi-site portfolios, shaped load products, first-of-kind pricing and risk structures). Structures may allow for future hedging strategies or bring in a customer’s prior executed Renewable supply contracts.
Typical customer opportunities will occupy the scale of $0.75 – $7.0mln of contract GM.
Although structures are seemingly bespoke, it is imperative that the team have an eye toward standardization and scalability.
Produce clear economics: expected P&L, sensitivities, downside exposures, and tradeable hedge requirements.
Ensure alignment with governance standards, LoaD principles, and deal entry requirements.
Act as the primary structuring interface for Sales—translating customer asks into viable commercial constructs. Participation in customer discussions and negotiations will be required.
Work with Portfolio Team to ensure structures can be hedged and operationalized.
Improve valuation methodologies, documentation, and workflow efficiency across the structuring process. Much of the learnings of this team may transition over time to implementation in the Pricing Team.
Building a productive commercial relationship with SENA Origination and Trading will be required.
Support capability building across commercial teams on structuring concepts and risk drivers.
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor’s degree (MBA, Finance, Economics, Energy Economics) or equivalent advanced commercial qualification, Master’s is preferred
10+ years in retail energy, power/gas trading, risk, portfolio analytics, or deal structuring
Strong analytical and modelling capability; comfort with valuation tools and complex datasets
Deep understanding of load profiles, hedging, imbalance markets, and risk allocation
Proven ability to influence across Sales, Trading, Risk, and Commercial leadership
Clear communicator able to simplify complex concepts for decisionmakers and customers
