Job Description:

What’s the role 

The Sr. Business Analytics Advisor will define and lead the enterprise analytics strategy, strengthen alignment between business objectives and data-driven insights and provide strategic leadership across the organization. In this role, you will oversee a portfolio of analytics initiatives, guide the development of scalable and automated analytics solutions, and lead, mentor, and develop a growing team of analytics professionals.  

Reporting to the Business Analytics Team Lead, you will serve as a trusted strategic partner to senior business and functional leaders. You will leverage strong business acumen and technical leadership to establish analytics standards, govern data and reporting frameworks, and translate complex data into actionable insights that influence enterprise decision-making, improve operational performance, and accelerate Shell’s broader transformation goals.  

Accountabilities: 

  • Lead the development and delivery of analytics, reporting, and performance insights that support strategic decision-making and go-to-market initiatives 

  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate and standardize reporting across B2B, leveraging Power BI and modern data platforms to drive scalability and consistency 

  • Drive automation and standardization of reporting across B2B lines of business by leveraging Power BI, Power Platform tools, and modern cloud data platforms to improve scalability, consistency, and efficiency 

  • Apply deep technical expertise and strong business acumen to identify, design, and implement process improvements that enhance data quality, streamline analytics workflows, and reduce manual effort 

  • Utilize internal AI and advanced analytics tools to responsibly generate actionable insights, ensuring alignment with Shell’s data governance and ethical AI guidelines. 

  • Partner with business and functional stakeholders to understand how processes, data flows, and system changes impact analytics and reporting 

  • Provide market and business intelligence by analyzing external reports, market data, and publicly available information to support strategic decision-making 

  • Mentor team and contribute to the development of analytics standards, training, and knowledge sharing 

  • Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to leadership in a timely and transparent manner to ensure alignment and successful delivery 

  • Collaborate with teams across the business to identify and evaluate solutions that foster long-term success

What you bring  

 

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer 

  • Bachelor’s degree required  quantitative degree preferred   

  • 8+ years of experience in retail energy, power markets, utilities, or renewable energy 

  • Extensive experience with business analytics and visualization tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, or Spotfire, including development of dashboards, semantic models, and data governance practices. 

  • Hands-on experience with Power Platform tools (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps) or comparable technologies to streamline and automate analytics workflows 

  • Experience with Copilot Studio, AI Foundry, or comparable AI/ML tools to responsibly enhance analytics solutions 

  • Expertise in SQL-based data modeling, cloud data warehouses (e.g., Azure Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake), and end-to-end BI lifecycle management 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear business insights 

  • Solid understanding of key operational metrics relevant to Retail Energy and the broader Power business 

  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose issues, analyze data, synthesize findings, and develop sound data-driven recommendations. 

  • Learner mindset and eye for continuous improvement needs 

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across the organization 

  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to professional development and delivering high-quality work 

 

 

What we offer 

 

The base salary range for this position is $124,000 - $186,000 per year Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity. 

 

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents. 

 

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance.
