The Business Execution Lead is a critical technical and operational role, serving as the subject matter expert for the billing platform and its supporting processes. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, and ongoing evolution of billing capabilities that support daily operations, commercial growth, and regulatory obligations.
Reporting to the Commercial Operations Manager, the role works closely with Operations, Pricing, Sales, Risk, Settlements, and Technology to translate business requirements into well-defined system solutions and process improvements. Acting as the primary bridge between business teams and IT delivery, the Business Execution Lead ensures that enhancements to the billing platform are thoughtfully prioritized, thoroughly designed, and successfully implemented with minimal disruption to operations. This role is hands-on, detail-oriented, and well suited for an individual who combines deep system knowledge with strong execution discipline and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
Accountabilities:
Serve as the functional and technical subject matter expert for the billing platform, with deep understanding of system capabilities, configuration, data flows, and downstream impacts
Own the identification, definition, and prioritization of billing-related enhancements and fixes in partnership with Retail Operations leadership
Partner with Pricing and Sales teams to operationalize new products and offers, ensuring accurate billing, settlement readiness, and alignment with market rules
Translate complex business requirements into clear functional specifications and implementation plans for Technology teams
Lead cross-functional initiatives related to billing stability, enhancements, regulatory changes, and operational improvements
Evaluate system and process impacts related to risk, settlements, and compliance, ensuring changes are implemented with appropriate controls and testing
Coordinate closely with IT delivery teams throughout the solution lifecycle, including design, build, testing, deployment, and post-implementation validation
Support daily operations by investigating system issues, identifying root causes, and driving timely resolution of defects impacting billing, settlements, or customer experience
Drive change management activities related to billing system updates, including documentation, stakeholder communication, and operational readiness
Establish and apply consistent frameworks for process improvement, automation opportunities, and continuous optimization

What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, information systems, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
At least 10+ years of experience in retail energy operations, with deep exposure to billing systems, system integrations, conversions, and operational process design
Expert-level knowledge of the Excelergy Revenue Manager billing platform, including configuration, billing logic, and operational dependencies
Strong understanding of retail energy market structures and settlement processes across CAISO, ERCOT, ISONE, PJM, MISO, and NYISO
Working knowledge of regulatory, legislative, and utility requirements in competitive retail markets and their operational impacts
Demonstrated ability to translate business and regulatory requirements into system and process solutions in partnership with Technology teams
Experience supporting product launches or pricing changes, ensuring operational and billing readiness
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex system and process issues and recommend practical solutions
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, including urgent operational issues
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document requirements and communicate impacts to diverse stakeholders
High attention to detail and strong discipline, particularly in environments where accuracy and timeliness are critical
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools; advanced Excel skills preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform tools; Power Automate skills preferred
Ability to comply with company policies and procedure

What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $115,000 - $173,000 per year. As Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
