Job Description:

What’s the role 

 

The Operations Analyst will play a critical role in strengthening and advancing the operational foundation of Shell Energy Solutions’ Commercial Operations organization. This role will take ownership of operational processes across both functions, developing a deep understanding of workflows, dependencies, and upstream and downstream impacts. In addition, the Operations Analyst will lead new initiatives and operational projects, guiding them from concept through execution while maintaining strong oversight of timelines, risks, and deliverables. 

 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role requires a candidate who thrives in a fast paced, evolving environment and brings analytical thinking, proactive problem-solving, and meticulous attention to detail. 

 

Accountabilities: 

  • Serve as a central operational expert across both the Billing and Transaction Management teams, maintaining a deep understanding of all related processes, dependencies, and workflows 

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of new initiatives and operational projects that support Commercial Operations, ensuring clear timelines, milestone tracking, and successful delivery 

  • Develop, update, and maintain comprehensive process documentation to support consistency, training, and operational scalability 

  • Partner closely with Billing, Transaction Management, and cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities for process optimization, quality improvements, and operational efficiency 

  • Oversee exception management in resolving complex operational issues, ensuring high-quality and efficient production outcomes 

  • Lead the validation and analysis of operational data, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of critical business information that supports decision-making and compliance 

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies, proposing enhancements, and partnering with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and strengthen operational performance 

  • Oversee end-to-end project timelines, proactively identifying risks, resolving blockers, and communicating progress to leadership and relevant teams 

  • Support adoption and implementation of new systems, enhancements, and operational tools by preparing documentation, validating requirements, participating in testing, and ensuring successful rollout 

  • Monitor implemented process changes to confirm intended outcomes, identify gaps, and adjust procedures as needed to ensure continuous improvement 

  • Provide subject-matter guidance to team members and stakeholders by serving as a go-to resource for process questions, operational troubleshooting, and issue escalation 

  • Collaborate with leadership in support of strategic planning, cross-team coordination, and other operational needs as assigned 

 

What you bring  

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • At least 6 years of experience in the deregulated electricity market, with strong working knowledge of retail operations, preferably within billing and/or transaction management  

  • Knowledge of ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO, NEISO, CAISO markets 

  • Knowledge of PUC and/or utility standards  

  • Demonstrate expertise supporting operational teams in a fast-paced environment, including the ability to manage overlapping projects, shifting priorities, and tight deadlines 

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to diagnose process issues, identify root causes, and develop practical, scalable solutions 

  • Proven ability to create or refine process documentation, including workflows and operational guides, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy 

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including strong Excel skills required for data analysis, tracking, and operational reporting 

  • Comfortable operating in target-driven, rapidly evolving environments, with the ability to quickly learn new topics, systems, tools, and processes 

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a disciplined approach to maintaining accuracy and delivering high-quality work 

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective, positive working relationships across teams and departments 

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including effective follow-through and the ability to escalate issues appropriately 

  • Ability to comply with company policies, procedures, and quality standards 

 

 

 

What we offer 

 

The base salary range for this position is $95,000 - $143,000 per year As pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.  

 

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents. 

 

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance.
