Job Description:

Pitney Bowes is seeking a Transportation Supervisor, 1st Shift to lead a high‑performing transportation team within our Maryland Heights, Missouri Presort Services operation. This role is ideal for a hands‑on leader who thrives in fastpaced, timecritical logistics environments and is committed to operational excellence, safety, and exceptional client service.

The base salary range is $65000 - $75000, with the actual pay dependent on your skills and experience as it relates to the job requirements and the location where you will be doing the job. This role is also eligible for an annual 6% field bonus. As part of our commitment to a flexible work schedule, this role does not have a set amount of vacation per year. 

The 1st Shift schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30AM – 5:00PM EST. You will need to be available on weekends if needed during Peak Season from December – February.

You will:

  • Supervise, coach, and schedule transportation personnel to ensure safe, efficient route execution.
  • Ensure accurate, on time pickup and delivery performance aligned with customer expectations and service commitments.
  • Manage transportation vendors, including sourcing, performance oversight, and compliance.
  • Maintain full DOT compliance, including driver qualification files, logs, and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure the transportation team provides excellent internal and external customer service while achieving total labor ratio goals.
  • Manage the human resources aspect of supervision including New Hire Orientation and training, performance appraisals, counseling, hiring and terminations.
  • Manage service providers to ensure delivery performance standards and operational practices are in line with contractual agreements and performance benchmarks.
  • Demonstrate safety and security processes and follow company policies.
  • Communicate with the Regional Logistics Manager, Logistics Center and Operations team regarding any accidents, special, late, or missing pickups and forward the information to the appropriate parties.
  • Coordinate with production to ensure the mail is dispatched on time and assure that all transportation tasks are completed.
  • Inspect assigned vehicle by the PBPS pre-trip inspection guidelines and procedures daily and report any defective findings to the leasing company or service shop for immediate repair.
  • Ensure USPS equipment is used only for the movement of “Live” mail.
  • Ensure proper handling of USPS equipment and secure, compliant processing of damaged or undeliverable mail.
  • Utilize required mobile applications and technology tools to support route execution and compliance.

As a Transportation Supervisor - 1st Shift, you have:

  • 2 years of transportation or fleet operations experience, including routing, customer interaction, basic security, and operational procedures.
  • 2 years management experience to include employee relations, performance management, hiring, training, and coaching.
  • Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, subordinates, and various levels within the organization in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Proven ability to manage DOT compliance and maintain accurate regulatory documentation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
