Vantor is currently seeking a Staff Software Developer to join our growing team.
What does the job look like:
Lead and contribute to software development efforts supporting mission-critical systems, with emphasis on scalable, high-performance APIs and microservices
Design, develop, and maintain RESTful services using Java and Spring Boot within a distributed architecture
Work with open-source tools and technologies supporting big data, geospatial imagery, and remote sensing applications
Collaborate within a cross-functional Agile team leveraging modern development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps principles
Drive containerization and orchestration efforts using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Rancher
Support infrastructure and deployment automation using tools such as Jenkins, Helm, and scripting (Bash/Shell/Python)
Integrate and maintain third-party tools such as Keycloak, OpenSearch, Fluent Bit, and Cesium
Contribute to system architecture decisions, performance tuning, and backend optimization
Work with data platforms including PostgreSQL and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch
Support testing automation, including integration and system-level validation
Engage with stakeholders as needed to support demos, troubleshooting, and mission objectives
Operate independently to solve complex technical challenges and document solutions clearly
Minimum Requirements:
Must be a US Citizen with a current/active TS/SCI clearance and willingness to obtain a CI polygraph
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong backend focus
Experience developing software using Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages
Strong experience building and maintaining REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, OpenShift)
Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, Gradle, and Helm
Familiarity with Linux-based environments and scripting (Bash/Shell)
Experience integrating or working with third-party tools such as Keycloak, Kibana, Fluent Bit, or similar
Must be willing and able to work onsite in Herndon, VA
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
Full stack experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Vue.js
Experience with databases and data management (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ORM frameworks)
Experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch for large-scale data indexing and search
Background in geospatial or remote sensing applications
Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Docker, Helm, and Kubernetes (RKE)
Familiarity with additional programming languages such as C++, C, Scala, or JavaScript
Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Cypress
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
