Essential Responsibilities •Release of information for various requestors including, patients, healthcare providers, insurance companies and governmental agencies. Duties to include: •Working the discharged, not final billed (DNFB) list to its conclusion. Release of medical records for various requestors as appropriate following all HIPAA and state guidelines. •Interviewing patients for the purposes of birth certificate completion and entering the information into the electronic state registry as required. May also process death certificate. •Entering and updating R1 software (epars, PAS, Chart Manager) for their specified functions of central business office requests, denials and DNFB activities. •Manage transcription issues as directed by the R1 transcription team. •Perform EMPI functions to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the facility's master patient index as well as the patient's medical record. •Monitors the task queues for data integrity issues including duplicates, overlaps, and overlays as well as other data integrity issues. •Resolves data integrity issues within the designated national or facility time frame. •Initiate the medical record suspension process according to the facility and regulatory requirements. •Perform medical record deficiency analysis and re-analysis to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the medical record. •Enter governmental requests into the appropriate RAC Tracker. •Perform quantitative reviews of the medical record and monitor the quality of the functions of the global team. •Maintain data collection spreadsheets as required. •Order departmental supplies.
