Our Global Logistics and Distribution business unit provides comprehensive logistics services and warehousing solutions utilizing a global network of distribution centers, innovative technology and supply chain expertise to manage the flow of goods from receiving to storage and order processing to shipment.
Job Summary
The Freight Forwarding Operations Supervisor supports the movement and growth opportunities for inbound and outbound cargo for freight forwarding customers. Ensures that freight is processed in compliance with governmental regulations (e.g., Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration, etc.). Collaborates with vendors, customers, commercial airline carriers, ocean freightliners, and other internal support groups for the movement of international and domestic air and ocean shipments.
Responsible for overseeing, evaluating, and correcting the performance and outcomes of a team or multiple teams. Coordinates work across the organization to optimize efficiency. Makes key workforce decisions, such as hiring, onboarding, transferring, laying off, disciplining, assigning, directing, instructing, developing, and rewarding employees. Emphasis on aligning processes and fostering cohesion among team members.
Supervises a team(s) that performs work according to standardized processes or procedures (e.g., entry-level Professional Expertise, Administrative or Technical Support). Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors. Problem solving is guided by policies, procedures and the local business plan; receives guidance and oversight from manager. Typically, does not perform the work supervised.
This role demands flexibility and availability for travel.
Qualifications
This position requires a flexible schedule, including some on-call availability and occasional weekend work.
Must be willing to travel primarily within Tennessee (TN). Candidates should be comfortable with travel and have the ability to manage their time effectively while on the road.
3 years of Management, Dispatch and Freight Forwarding Experience – Preferred
Ability to manage drivers, equipment repairs and working relationship with vendors. – Required
Strong Analytical and Organization Skills
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and produce accurate reports
Proficiency in MS office applications
Must have hazmat and cold chain certification.
Strong Problem-Solving Skills
Ability to oversee multiple locations (service centers) - Preferred
Must be able to work any shifts to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed. and travel on occasional basis.
