OR Service Coordinator
Full-Time I First Shift
Surgical Services I Lexington, KY
Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department.
Description:
- Provides supervision of workflow and staff for service lines within the Department of Surgical Services.
- Assures the provision of patient care by addressing performance, patient, family, and physician issues/concerns as appropriate. Ensures on-going compliance with JCAHO/CMS accreditation and State Licensure requirements.
- Shares knowledge of functions and standards to assist others in planning improvements; communicates information; designs materials and education programs; teaches; encourages recognition of achievement.
- Acts as a clinical resource and mentor/preceptor to staff working within the service line. Coordinates equipment needed for each service through interface with vendors and directors.
- Operates service line within budgetary goals as defined by department executive.
- Ensures that equipment and supply needs for clinical staff is met on a daily basis.
- Monitors daily surgery schedule and coordinates with manager to assign equipment and staff to provide for the provision of patient care.
- Updates preference cards within two weeks based on physician needs or changes in surgical technique or supplies.
- Facilitates turnover of room between cases.
- Coordinates with Operations Clinical Coordinator or Charge Nurse to ensure coverage for staff during breaks and lunches.
- Ensure room cleaning per guidelines.
- Completes annual competency assessments of staff assigned to service line.
- Recommends educational, coaching, or disciplinary actions based on identified technical or behavioral issues or concerns.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 5 years of experience.
- RN or Certified Surgical Technician (If not CST certified must obtain within 2 years from hire date)
