Summary

Job Description:

Prescribes, delegates, coordinates, and implements nursing care of patients as it relates to insertion and maintenance of vascular access; participates in patient and family teaching; and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, and other patient-team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.

Essential Duties:

  • Assesses appropriateness of line selection based on patient history, clinical condition, and planned therapy

  • Provides direct patient care and education to patients, caregivers, and staff in the appropriate use and care of vascular access devices.

  • Serves as a resource and provides leadership in the development, coordination, and monitoring of vascular access device and/or PICC line care, and system measurements to improve clinical outcomes

Requirements:

  • Current RN licensure recognized by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing is required.

  • One year RN experience required (hospital experience preferred)

  • Obtain any certifications or education required for any equipment or vascular access devices as needed.
