Lab Tech Assistant/MLT Career Path - Lab

Part-time, 1:30p-10:00p

This position is designed for candidates who are interested in a career as a Medical Laboratory Technician. It provides a structured exposure to clinical laboratory operations, technical skills, and professional workflows in a hospital or reference laboratory setting. Through supervised experience, staff will gain foundational knowledge across major laboratory disciplines, understand regulatory requirements, and develop the competencies necessary for entry-level practice in the clinical laboratory profession.

Job Description:

• Receive, label, and prepare patient specimens for analysis according to established procedures

• Ensure accurate documentation of specimen handling and processing activities

• Collect specimens and/or assist phlebotomy staff and/or physicians in specimen collection

• Monitor equipment performance and report any issues to the appropriate personnel

• Enter patient and test information into laboratory information systems accurately and in a timely manner

Requirements:

• Current enrollment in an accredited Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, or related bioscience program, or future enrollment within the next 12 months

• Completion of prerequisite coursework as defined by the school or program (biology, chemistry, microbiology, etc.)
