Summary

Support the Financial Reporting Manager in executing the month-end close process and preparing audit documentation to help ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Develop and maintain standard procedures and workpapers. Works both independently and collaboratively to achieve operational objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Month-end close
    • Prepare and post month‑end journal entries.
    • Perform monthly account reconciliations with proper documentation and supporting schedules.
    • Ensure month‑end tasks are completed in accordance with the close calendar and deadlines
    • Maintain accuracy and completeness of the general ledger.
    • Assist in preparing financial statements or internal reporting packages as needed.
    • Coordinate with cross‑functional departments to resolve issues or obtain required data.
  • Audit
    • Prepare assigned year-end workpapers for annual financial audit.
    • Respond to auditor inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
    • Maintain and improve month-end and audit workpapers supporting general ledger balances
  • General Responsibilities
    • Prioritize tasks to meet required deadlines
    • Ensure compliance with GASB/GAAP standards and internal policies
    • Review and update Standard Work Instructions, creating updates or new documents as needed
    • Communicate professionally and clearly in both verbal and written formats

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field AND three (3) or more years of experience in a financial and/or accounting environment
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation

OR

  • Associate’s degree in accounting or related field AND five (5) or more years of experience in a specialty designation area preferably in a municipal or public utility setting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must maintain a valid driver’s license

Environmental Working Requirements

Work is currently performed in a hybrid environment (subject to change) with exposure to computer screens, working in team offices, and closely with all staffing levels.
