Summary

Provides leadership, supervision, and coaching to subordinates, while maintaining overall operations and improvement of the department. Manages daily operations, expands future business, analyzes and corrects problems that arise, supports subordinates' growth, coordinates activities and supports customer needs.

What You'll Do

  • Maintains good relationship with the customer as well as the suppliers.
  • Assists in maintaining appropriate security programs and procedures for safety and security of personnel and property of the company, as required.
  • Selecting, training and supervising employees in safe, efficient conduct of daily operations across multiple shifts
  • Works with supervisors/managers to resolve employee issues and coach employees on their issues.
  • Selecting, training and supervising employees in safe, efficient conduct of daily operations across multiple shifts
  • Coordinates and collaborates with other departments of the company in establishing and carrying out responsibilities.
  • Overseeing the operation of equipment such as mobile crane, overhead crane, forklift, baler machine and OTR CDL-required transportation equipment (tractor & trailers)
  • Ensures that the company’s established procedures are followed.
  • Contributes to the organization through others and their specific technical expertise.
  • Maintains compliance with all regulatory safety (OHSA) and environmental (EPA) and similar requirements
  • Ensuring the implementation of effective safety and environmental systems for the safety of GMI and transportation personnel, equipment and property; ensuring that all areas of the facility and work areas are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Providing production activity data to support budgeting, planning, and regular reporting; preparing and presenting various business report as required by GMI management
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and is required to view a PC monitor or electronic hand-held devices for several hours at a time.

Work Environment:

The employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes, vapors, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.  The employee will be required to wear safety equipment to meet the safety requirements of various processes and/or instructions and where occasional exposures have potential for occurring.
