Compensation Range:

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Completes defined scope and standards of practice. Engages in environmental scanning to identify practice gaps and collaborates with others in improving practice and healthcare outcomes. Functions as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, advocate for Nursing Professional Development (NPD) specialty, and partner for practice transitions. Supports learning, change, professional role competence and growth, which ultimately lead to optimal patient care, population health, and protection of the public.

Full time 40hours, grant funded with end date of 9/30/36: Monday- Friday, Days, Onsite

 Exciting and unique opportunity to develop the new role of a Senior Clinical Preceptor Consultant (SCPC) within the medical/surgical and psychiatric service lines to enhance the onboarding and orientation process for new nurses, under a NYS DOH awarded Grant, funded through September 30, 2026. In conjunction with the Nurse Residency Program, Center for Nursing Professional Development, Nursing Practice leadership, Nursing Orientation Coordinators, and NPD Practitioners, the SCPC’s role is key to creating a sustainable and efficient preceptor support system, strengthening clinical education, and promoting a smooth transition to practice. The SCPC will be responsible for attending and presenting during the Centralized Practice Based Learning Preceptor Workshop to clarify roles and expectations for new preceptors. They will review orientee information with primary preceptors to assess learning needs and ensure the right training methods are in place. The SCPC will provide direct support to preceptors in addressing any challenges or concerns with their orientee’s progress, such as alternative teaching strategies, managing mental health stressors, and enhancing skill development.

Qualifications: License to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State, a BSN and Master’s degree in a related field required. Board certification in Nursing Professional Development preferred. Recent experience in acute care nursing with expertise as a preceptor, educator, or leader required.
