Compensation Range:

$19.08 - $25.77

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

In accordance with department policy and objectives, assists in the nursing care of the mentally ill by implementing various types of psychiatric treatment plans for groups of patients, including group interventions. Additional leadership responsibilities, under the guidance of unit nursing leadership, for the betterment of patient safety, patient experience, and unit culture.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Collaborates with patients, family members and the interdisciplinary treatment team to deliver quality services.
  • Integrates multidisciplinary approaches to complete patient assessments and coordinate health care services across the continuum. Demonstrates problem solving and critical thinking skills in developing health care interventions. Participates in various therapeutic activities, such as role playing, behavior modification, modeling, reality orientation, etc.
  • Completes tasks and duties as assigned based on unit needs in conjunction with Nursing Leadership.
  • Delivers health care services to patients and their families according to the interdisciplinary treatment plan. Independently implements the interdisciplinary treatment plan for an assigned group of patients, including group interventions. Revises and modifies plan in response to changes in patient and alterations in therapeutic approach. Participates in planning conferences.
  • Serves as primary preceptor for on boarding new staff to the unit.
  • Participates in ongoing staff development programs, workshops and seminars. Implements orientation and training for peer staff development, including orientation and training of new staff,
  • Participates in unit-based research and quality improvement, involving data collection and documentation of patient and family services. Records relevant data and reports data to appropriate staff.
  • Leads weekly huddles to enhance team cohesion and patient safety. Delineates tasks to ensure excellent and safe patient care, while diffusing potential issues.
  • Serves on Unit Council to bring a voice for and represent staff. May work on unit improvement projects regarding patient safety.
  • Conducts environmental safety rounds to identify and place facility work orders on a weekly basis or as needed, including discolored ceiling tiles, holes in walls, restroom issues, wall re-painting, etc.
  • Coordinates 8-week scheduling, in conjunction with unit scheduler, to ensure proper staffing coverage while contributing to the work-life balance of staff.
  • Provides conflict resolution skills within the team. Escalates continued needs to Nursing Leadership as needed.
  • Coordinates with Food and Nutrition to complete unit food orders per shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree in a human services field and 2 years recent Psychiatric Technician experience required or
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services preferred or
  • 2 years of RN Nursing School required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year acute psychiatric care experience preferred


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Conflict resolution skills, ability to multi-task. Basic computer experience to include MS Programs and e-Record preferred
