MAHEC's Center for Simulation Education is now interviewing candidates for the role of Nurse Educator! This is a full time, benefits eligible, exempt position based at MAHEC's Biltmore Campus, Asheville. The Simulation Center Nurse Educator:

  • Assists with creating educational content, coordinating training sessions and supporting the professional development of health care personnel in collaboration with the Clinical Simulation Curriculum Manager. 

  • Utilizes simulation modalities, e-learning platforms and other educational technologies to enhance training effectiveness. 

  • Provides hands-on training to health care providers to enhance skills and knowledge. 

  • Coordinates the NC AHEC RN Refresher Program assisting nurses in returning to the profession after a lapse in licensure. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with the development of education for undergraduate internships, local high schools and other outreach initiatives as needed. 
  • Teaches American Heart Association BLS/ACLS/PALS courses- (PALS and ACLS instruction will be based on experience).
  • Coordination and support of Advance Practice Provider education as requested.
  • Provides and teaches simulation-based course such as IV, Phlebotomy and Injection training. 
  • Serves as committee member on the NC AHEC Nurse Council and program planning committee for CPD programming based on area expertise. 
  • Consults on Evidence Based Guidelines and Standards of Care as requested.
  • Assist with standardizing the educational request process, timelines for delivery and the Train the Trainer model as requested in collaboration with other departments. 
  • Assists with educational content creation in collaboration with content experts in clinical and non- patient facing departments including creation of validation tools and competency forms. 
  • Collaborates with content experts from clinical and non-clinical areas to assist with the delivery of yearly education and new hire competency requirements including assisting with training of clinic preceptors using the Train the Trainer model.

SPECIFIED SKILLS

  • COMPUTER
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to move equipment and learning materials (up to 50 pounds)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
    • 2 years clinical experience
    • BLS Certification
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to travel statewide to various other healthcare facilities and programs as needed

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Master’s degree or higher in Nursing
    • BLS Certification instructor
    • Experience with healthcare simulation

  • REQUIRED LICENSES:
    • Registered nurse – holding a current, valid, and unencumbered NC license

SCHEDULE:

  • Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Typical business hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division); 40 hours per workweek; weekend, holiday, or evening coverage is occasionally required. Work hours will need to be flexible in order to respond to special work assignments, or evening activities, as requested by the team leader.

COMPENSATION:

  • $70,550 (exempt) + MAHEC Full Time Total Rewards Package
